Dr. Robert “Bob” Wagoner, age 66 of New Castle passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018. Bob was a native of Sellersburg, Clark County, Indiana. Bob was a member of the Eminence Baptist Church and was the son of the late Vernon & Mildred (Kopp) Wagoner.
He began his tenure with KRTA on January 1, 2002 when he began working as the Executive Director-Elect following the retirement of Mr. Frank Hatfield. He has served as the Executive Director of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association (KRTA) for the past fifteen years.
Bob has 28 years of experience in public education serving in three Kentucky public school districts (Bullitt, Woodford & Henry Counties); his education positions have included Teacher, Guidance Counselor, Assistant Principal, Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and retired from his position as Superintendent of Henry County.
He has also worked in the Kentucky General Assembly’s Legislative Research Commission’s Office of Educational Accountability and served as the Director for the Division of Finance in the Office of Education Accountability (OEA); a primary focus of his OEA assignment was to analyze Kentucky’s public school funding formula to see if it was functioning as designed.
Bob has degrees from Cumberland College, Western Kentucky University and the University of Louisville. His educational administrative experience includes a background in School Finance, Personnel Management, Supervision, Curriculum Development, and Assessment.
As KRTA’s Executive Director, he was working to provide strong and positive leadership to achieve the best programs possible for Kentucky’s Retired Educators.
